Software Engineering Manager
 

MSI has an immediate opening for an outstanding leader with demonstrated experience in developing and testing custom embedded firmware and/or Linux- or Windows-based GUIs. We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager with at least 10 years of experience in both high- and low-level programming who wants to grow MSI's software engineering capability. This is your opportunity to add value to a team that will help deliver a wide variety of high-reliability, complex electro-mechanical systems to our customers.

Software engineering at MSI involves developing embedded firmware for custom microcontroller applications, completing embedded or PC Windows programming, and designing Linux- or Windows-based GUIs, including requirements clarification and development, architecture development, coding, testing, and documentation. The successful manager candidate will have demonstrated experience in all these areas as well as in developing and leading winning teams.

The Software Engineering Manager's primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Technical contribution to and oversight of engineering projects
  • Growth of MSI's software engineering capabilities
  • Resource management (hiring, resource planning, etc.)
  • Personnel development (mentoring, coaching, training, compensation planning, etc.)
  • Proposal development
  • Budgeting
  • Process development

As outlined above, this job will require a combination of management and direct engineering work on our various projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development of complex hardware/software systems, with a proven track record of drive and creativity leading to successful delivery of engineering projects. Experience with management of engineering personnel is a must - be prepared to show us your adeptness at developing strong interpersonal relationships with employees and customers.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science along with experience in hardware interface and embedded systems development could be substituted.
